A FEW THOUGHTS ON DREAMS

I keep going around in circles trying to think of the best way to start this post and the sad thing is, this silly sentence was the best I could think of. Anyways, here's the story I'm getting to.

A few days ago I went to a home visit. You see, my job entails working with children with disabilities and their families to assist them in locating community resources. During this visit I met a delightful young lady and her loving family. This girl has lived her entire life with cerebral palsy that has left her without full function of her legs and right arm. She's a beautiful and smart young lady enrolled in college with her entire future planned. She explained to me that her parents instilled in her the self assured knowledge that she can do anything she wants to do and the words "I can't" are never to be spoken. As she spoke of her college plans and future dreams, she glowed in delight. She KNEW without a doubt that she was going to do great things in this world. Her mom, while expressing her love and devotion to her daughter, gleamed with joy and tears in her eyes.

How quickly most of us allow the shortcomings and doubts slow us down or stop us from getting to where God has planned for us to be. This young lady reminds me and encourages me to be better and work harder. I just wanted to share her story so that you might also find some encouragement because God, He uses our shortcomings to show His strength and power. We must never doubt His plans for us. I'm excited to see where He will take me, you and especially this amazing young lady.
